As the holiday season approaches, we are once again preparing for Glocester's annual Candlelight Shopping and Festival of Lights! This delightful celebration of the holidays will be held on three Thursday evenings in December ... the 3rd, 10th and 17th. We plan to schedule a variety of events and performances designed to enhance shopping and dining, and bring people into our town to enjoy our "Yankee hospitality." Businesses will be decorated for the season. The streets will be lighted with luminaries. The sounds of holiday music and carolers will add to the old-fashioned ambience that folks have enjoyed for the past several years! Many shops in and around town will be participating throughout all three evenings of this festive annual event. Local and out-of-town shoppers will be treated to a thoroughly enjoyable old-fashioned holiday shopping, dining, and entertainment excursion! How can you be a part of this wonderful hometown event? Here are just a few ideas ... Stay open for business on all three evenings;   Provide space -- either indoors or outdoors -- to hold special events;   Sponsor a bit of musical entertainment (or provide your own!);   Serve complimentary refreshments -- hot mulled cider, cookies, etc.;   Offer special discounts or free samples to evening shoppers;   Donate goods or services for our penny social and raffles;   Send a check to help defray the cost of activities.
